Outlander’s Sam Heughan has opened up about his first ever scene on the Starz series with co-star Caitriona Balfe, revealing the pair have disagreed on the moment.
Sam Heughan from Outlander has shared that he and co-star Caitriona Balfe have had their fair share of disagreements regarding their first scene together on the acclaimed Starz series.

The show kicked off in 2014, tracing the journey of World War II nurse Claire Randall (portrayed by Caitriona), who finds herself transported back to 18th Century Scotland and meets Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan).

Their on-screen romance is a whirlwind of intense and steamy encounters leading to their eventual marriage. Caitriona was cast over a decade ago, on September 11, 2013, and to commemorate this anniversary, the show’s official Instagram account posted an interview snippet.

In the footage, Sam admits they are at odds over what their initial scene together was. “The first day ever working with Caitriona Balfe,” he reminisces.
“We sort of discussed… shall I say discussed? We’ve argued over what was the first day and we should find out.”

Each actor holds a different memory of their first scene, both pivotal to Claire and Jamie’s budding relationship. “I feel like it was Jamie’s dislocated shoulder,” Sam recalls.

“But it could be on horseback in the rain.”

Reflecting on Caitriona’s early days on set, he continued: “I just remember her being thrown into this crazy world. But we just got on really well. And I guess we’ve said it before, but I think, you know, the relationship really started there for them, but also for us.”

Sam Heughan shared insights into his growing off-screen friendship with co-star Caitriona Balfe, saying: “We hadn’t really spent much time together. You’ll see not only Claire and Jamie’s relationship grow but also mine and Caitriona’s relationship grow as well,” to the delight of fans who cherish their on-screen chemistry.

Fans didn’t hold back their affection for the Outlander duo, with one admirer exclaiming: “The most perfect Claire we ever could have asked for.”

Another expressed their sorrow over the impending conclusion of the series: “I can’t believe these relationships are coming to an end soon. I just can’t take it! ! “.

An emotional supporter commented: “She was the perfect choice in every way. Happy cast anniversary Caitriona. And @samheughan please, stop making us cry.”

While the journey of Claire and Jamie is set to wrap up with season eight, enthusiasts can anticipate more from season seven later this year and get excited about the upcoming prequel, Blood of My Blood, which will explore the lives of Claire and Jamie’s parents.
